Hines family papers, ca. 1859-1883.

Correspondence and papers of the Hines family of Ohio and Indiana. Correspondence, 1859-1861, is between Edward and his brothers George Jr. and James. The majority of correspondence is between Edward and his wife, Martha, in Arney, Owen County, Ind., during his Civil War service. Topics include the Battle of Resaca and managing the family farm. Also included are letters to Martha from Edward's parents, and from her brother, David Landis, containing songs he wrote about the Civil War.
